Course Description:

Citizenship class is for students who want to apply for and pass the citizenship interview with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Students learn about the naturalization process and test, US history and government, rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship, and answer personal information questions.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to pass the USCIS interview.
  • Answer written and oral questions about U.S. history and government based on the 100 questions provided by the USCIS.
  • Understand Form N-400 Application for Naturalization, and correctly answer questions from it asked by the USCIS     Immigration Officer.
  • Understand the requirements and process of obtaining U.S. Citizenship
  • Set goals and follow a plan to attain citizenship
  • Understand the rights and responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship
  • Get a broader knowledge of the United States, including our government, geography, and history

PREREQUISITES

  • Have a Permanent Resident Card and live in California
  • Score at the Beginning High or higher range of the CASAS assessment, (unless qualifying for the native-language interview)
